Meet Kristofer Linnestjerna – Developer with 15 years at NetClean
Many of NetClean’s employees have been with us for a long time. One of them is Kristofer Linnestjerna who joined the company back in 2005. Not only is he one of our most experienced developers, he is also a much appreciated colleague.
For those who don’t know you – who are you and what is your function at NetClean?
I describe myself as an easy going, happy, slightly nerdy developer with a great passion for computers and programming. I love programming and it’s awesome that I can do that all day here, Kristofer laughs.
How did you first come across NetClean?
I came across NetClean as early as 2005, when I was doing my university thesis. The company was just starting up back then and they were looking for someone who was good at databases and programming, which was exactly what I had studied. When I understood what kind of product they were looking to develop, I instinctively knew that I wanted to join the company, and that this was a product I wanted to work with. And I still feel that way fifteen years later.
You’ve been here a long time – what is it that makes you stay with us?
Apart from the satisfaction of working with a product that really makes a difference to people’s lives, it is the opportunities to grow and work on different projects. During my time here I have helped develop several different products. Another important aspect is the fact that staff here can make themselves heard. We can put forward suggestions, even major ones, and be given the go ahead to take these further. This is a great motivator. I also have the world’s most awesome colleagues and I can’t stress enough how important this is for moral and employee satisfaction in the office, Kristofer says.
In what way do you think the company has changed during the years that you have worked here?
When I started, the company was still a new start-up with all that that entails. In a sense I think of it as two different companies now. We’ve gone from a start-up to becoming a successful company on a global market. If there is something that stands out it is the fact that we have, despite our growth, managed to maintain the sense of being a small, warm company where people can be themselves, have fun and where everyone can find their place.

Hey, you are also somewhat of a TV star. Tell us something about that!
Ha ha! Hmmm, yes, Kristofer says after a good laugh. I like to cook, so I signed up for a tv show called Grillmästarna. Unfortunately, it turned out that I am not a master at BBQing stuff. I blame the ribs though – I had never made those before and it did not end well. My colleagues still turn up at the yearly BBQ I organize here at work though, so I must have developed my skills somewhat.
Before we end this interview we must talk about Ada. Who is Ada?
Ada is a small sausage dog, and in essence my wife’s and my third child, in addition to our two boys. She comes with me to work and usually sleeps under my desk. That is until she wants a snack and goes for a walkabout round the office – she knows exactly which rooms and which colleagues to hit up.
