Meet Emma Rosell – New Chief Technology Officer at NetClean
In February, we were delighted when Emma Rosell, our new CTO, joined the NetClean team. Although busy with meeting her team and getting to know the business, she found time for a chat, in which we covered everything from product development to how Christmas just isn’t Christmas until you’ve cuddled a camel.
Welcome Emma, it's so nice to have you joining the NetClean team!
Thanks, it’s really great to be here!
What has been your first impression of NetClean and the team that you will be workinhg with?
Everyone here is really nice and helpful and has made me feel very welcome. It’s great. I’ve just about had time to meet with everyone in my team either online or in person in the office, and it’s been great to put a face to everyone and get to know people better.
You have just joined us, so of course we are curious about who you are, but first, what made you want to join NetClean?
I have known about NetClean for a while and know the products too, so when the chance came to join and be a part of NetClean’s journey, I jumped at the opportunity. I am, just like my colleagues, very proud of the products that we produce and deliver as they really make a difference. In addition, the company is in an interesting phase right now, and I am excited to be part of this journey.
What do you bring to this role, and how will your past experience help you here?
Well, I have a worked as a CTO for a number of years now, so I think I am a safe pair of hands when it comes to driving and developing the strategic and operative work in terms of product development. My role is also about being open to both what the client and my team want, and think is important. And I put great emphasis on making sure that everyone is heard, that needs, possibilities and challenges are met and that we find ways forward.
Something that I find special with the NetClean clientele is the incredible level of engagement that they have. Across industries and even within industries our customers are willing to share experiences and give advice in a way that is very unique. I find it wonderful that our clients’ enthusiasm and engagement help inform new potential clients.

I have worked with many different companies in different stages of development, and I know what it means to work with both small and medium sized businesses. Growth and development often look the same, no matter what the ambition is. NetClean has a clear vision for the future, and I look forward to working towards that.
So, that's a bit about work. Now about Emma! Where do we find you when you're not at work?
Where to start? I am married with two sons, so of course I spend a lot of time with my family. Recently I have started climbing, which at the moment is an interest of my own and what I would say qualifies as “me time”. But you never know, it might be something that the whole family could do together too, and the boys might want to come along when they get older. I love animals, both big and small, but my husband is allergic. So when I realized that there’s a dog in the office (remember Kristofer’s dog Ada?), I was over the moon. Finally, a dog to cuddle with.
We live in a flat in the city, but we also have a small house outside of Gothenburg where we go on weekends and holidays. We have a garden there, where I love to grow flowers and edible things. I’ve come to understand that this is an interest I share with many here at NetClean, so I look forward to exchanging both ideas and cuttings.

Speaking of cuddling with dogs, I hear that you have a standing date with a camel every Christmas?
Haha, yes! Doesn’t everyone? Every year the Cathedral in Gothenburg puts on a nativity play, which features a real live camel, not something you come across too often in cold Scandinavia. I go so that I can hang out with the camel, it’s definitely my main reason for turning up every year. As I said, I love all animals big and small. The cuddlier the better.
Finally, what do you look forward to once we can return to a more normal way of life?
I think I speak for so many when I say that I look forward to seeing my family and friends again. My parents live in the north of Sweden and I have not been able to see them for a very long time. So I look forward to going north to see them again. Hopefully this can happen soon. We all just have to be patient a little bit longer.
